It seems that nearly every time that notice of the death of a celebrity is noted here it takes only about 6 posts before the thread takes a very negative turn and rapidly degenerates into a personal hatefest between posters. Perhaps once a year a meeting should be held so that you people can actually exchange blows, fight like animals and get your hostilities out, or do any of you have the guts to make insults face to face? Distance makes wusses brave.

I only see two people making actual insults, the rest are simply stating their views on the matter.

I completely agree with Bill and Chris. Why can't we just state our views, and if people don't like that some of us aren't heartbroken because somebody nobody of us even really knew and who clowned around with dangerous animals was killed by one such while thousands of completely innocent people get wiped out all over the world, why don't they just accept that and have to start a flame war? Very strange.

Well, although you have a constitutional right to free speech, mom always says: If you can't say anything nice about someone, then don't say anything at all.

I guess that boils down to this: You dont have to feel bad that he died. I just dont think people who DO care, really want to hear negative things being said about a person who has just died. I don't understand what makes a person want to post views like that for everyone to read.

I don't have a hook up. What I do is not illegal but I doubt Directv would be too happy about it. I pay for service and Tivo service.

Maybe that's because you two are always looking to say something mean about someone.

Chad didnt die, he was just saying things that I didn't agree with, and I spoke up. Since Steve Irwin can't say anything about it, I figured I would. I think mom said something about that too... [Big Grin]

My, my, MY...Ya know Frank, You ***REALLY*** should READ ***YOUR*** posts to see what a hypocrite and (dare I say it?) ASSHOLE you appear to be!

Oh BTW, you really ***NEED*** to get your head out of your ASS as well. Of course, that's just my 2-cents that my mom told me to post.

Only on Film-Tech could a thread start about a celebrity dying, then immediately degenerate into an argument about whether it was "too bad" that he died or if he simply was "asking for it," with a side plot about why people should or shouldn't get "sad" about a celebrity cashing in, followed by a gripe-fest about freedom of speech, leading into a discussion about a shady "not illegal" cable hookup, and finally into a name-calling tirade, followed by me, who is just trying to understand why you guys don't stop crapping all over this thread and take all this dopey arguing off the board and let the Steve Irwin fans grieve in peace.

Back in my day we used to settle disagreements with large wooden clubs. But then I was frozen during winter, and later thawed out by some of your scientists. Your modern arguments on this contraption called the internet frightens me.

Well Mike B, ALL here are NOT necessarily fans of Steve Irwin. Me personally, I'm indifferent to him... I'm pragmatic...shit happens.

No matter what anyone sez about me in this life, when it's MY time to croak, I just hope I'll RIP... Rot In Peace.

When personal attacks appear here, it's most likely cuz SOME members want to FORCE ***THEIR*** views on others, shit happens again.

There is NO rule here (OR in life) that we ***ALL*** must fall into what someone dictates to us in their personal feelings or beliefs.

Hopefully those here on their "high horse" will sometime "get it"!

(But I really doubt it as passion usually rules over the common sense)

RULE #1 Personal attacks These forums are moderated in the respect solely toward personal attacks. Everyone is welcome to participate in any capacity until the point comes at which other members are being singled out and directly insulted. This does not mean you cannot post a negative report on a product, service or customer support. All this refers to is the tone of the post if made toward a specific member of the forums. Disagreements are a daily occurence on the forums and will not be moderated, but personally attacking another member will not be tolerated. Please note "attacking" another member includes making discriminatory comments based upon skin color and/or sexual preference. Discriminatory comments are moderated at the exclusive decision of the Admin and Moderators, so make sure your post reads properly. If you are unsure if your post will "read" poorly toward another, please consider using smileys to assist in expressing the tone of your post or re-word it before posting, or refrain from posting it completely.
The bottom line is to please be polite, mature and professional towards the other members or you will be removed from the forums, regardless of your knowledge or stature in the industry.

I can call myself an asshole here (not that I am mind you although Phil may say otherwise now [Wink] ), but nobody else here is supposed to be able to call me an asshole. So before this thread is closed (undoubtedly with the violator(s) going unpunished), I'd like to know how I can get a special exemption from the FAQ like Phil seems to have? [Confused]
