Las Vegas is running $2.59 for decaf, $2.69 for mid-grade, and $2.79 for ethyl. (Who's Ethyl?) Cost me $5.00 to fill my '68 WV Type I when I got it in December 1973, during the first Arab oil embargo. Wasn't sure I'd make it back from LA to LV that Sunday--most of the gas stations were closed due to the shortages. COst was $1.61/9 for 87 octane. Today, it is anywhere from $2.16 up to $2.69, depending on which store you go to. Now tell me this... just how in the world is gas nearly .50 more a gallon from store to store? Who's F'n who here? Thank God for my trusty new Accord... a worst case milage stil works out at 27+ mpg... in town.. stop and go. My Yukon got 13 and our Trailblazer gets about 15. Luckily, the wife goes thru about a tank every 8-10 days. She drives 10 miles (round trip) to work and back. I drive 60. BTW, the new job is keeping me on my toes. I miss the theatre, but then again, I don't. I've only gone back to retrieve my personals... haven't taken time to go see a movie in one of the new 'retro'd stadium' theatres. Take it to a car wash and get it cleaned out for Christ's sake!  |  IP: Logged Monte L Fullmer Film God Posts: 8367 From: Nampa, Idaho, USA Registered: Nov 2004 posted 04-10-2005 01:52 AM                     Yea, I work sometimes in Oregon, but I make sure that I fill up in Idaho since I don't like full serve. 2 reasons: 1-gas at full serve stations is 20 cents more than in Idaho and, 2-clowns at the full serve stations doing the fill, can't do the service right at times. Rather do it myself. Yet, I know it's a work incentive situation in Oregon (since they don't have sales tax, in which they really need it...), thus the full-serve situation. I might buy a goat to put in the yard. Seriously has anyone noticed a drop in movie attendence that they feel is related to Gas prices. Our theater relys on a lot of fairly long distance traveling customers. I think out of town trafic has dropped and local has picked up a little. For awhile, the 87 octane "regular" stuff was hovering at $1.99. It jumped to $2.09 a couple weeks ago. Then this past week (first full week in April), it jumped to $2.19. I know they are reporting 'averages' but really, everyone I know has been paying more then that for a long time... And what's this with diesel? I was in Brazil a few years ago and driving though corn fields for several hours with a tech. He said it was grown for fuel and mixed 10 to 15% with regular fuel to save costs.
