Doesn't quite drive me insane, but close: that character that Progressive car insurance uses in all their ads. She's too damn perky and quirky and she just gets on my nerves; "Do you want that in a big bag or two not so big bags?" she sez. Cute, yah, maybe the first time (or not even) and enough to make you contemplate doing something illegal to her after the 20th time. And what's with that bulbious tumor looking thing sticking out of the back of her head? But it drives me absolutely batshit insane when the fucking crayons roll off the table when you go out to eat. You want to color, hold on to your fucking crayons! And they don't put out paper placemats anymore either. I used to always grab a crayon and flip the placemat over and draw pictures on the back side. I even got one of my pictures tacked up on the wall with all the other kid's pictures at a Perkins, one time! I would have figured that it was you or your dinner date who liked to color. And about the 3D thing. I always encourage everyone I can to keep the 3D glasses and NEVER EVER return them to the recycling thing. You pay extra for the ticket, you keep the damn glasses. I don't care if you throw them in the trash after you exit the building, just do not let the theater have them back. LOL Joe, that reminded me of the years I worked at Knott's Berry Farm running the 3d "Sea Dream" in the Cloud 9 ballroom. We had one usher who was so militant about those glasses he actually would chase patrons through the park to get them back!! That movie was so insipid, and sad to say I not only remember our exit tag spiel but most of the movie as well, and that was close on 20 years ago!! The film was run on Century MDAW with 4k LP lamphouses, first on a Potts Alpha platter then I later sold them a Christie ELF. We had eight prints spliced together so you only had to thread at the start of the day, until we got the ELF then we had four prints with two kept as backups. Sound was originally 4-track mag, then I upgraded to stereo optical with an Ultra*Stereo processor. Image was over/under polarized. The projector was controlled by an LP automation, with a remote in the upstairs tech booth where we had the soundboard. The original mag prints had a pre-recorded opening spiel which we never used, the usher would do it live. We had to start the projector when the usher came on stage and they had to finish talking before the dowser opened. The operator would monitor the muted center channel during the spiel to know if the film was running and also when to kill the mike and open the curtain. It was always interesting when the usher would screw around and forget the time limit. What makes me go insane about that stint is that I still remember wayyy too much about it!!  |  IP: Logged Julio Roberto Jedi Master Film Handler Posts: 938 From: Madrid, Madrid, Spain Registered: Oct 2008 posted 12-30-2009 02:16 PM                    I took Murray Lerner for lunch once in LA as I needed him to sign off a pan-and-scan to 1.78 (from 2.44) for that film. He is the guy that made Sea Dreams. Unrelated to that, but the guy had won an Oscar. I think we had Mexican He wasn't very knowledgeable of stereoscopy (at least at the time) but since he was one of the first to do theme-park 3D stuff (Sea Dreams was 1978), he always landed all these 3D projects under non-disclosure for different parks. That film had soundtracks in 4 or 5 different languages made. And it included some music (by the Beatles?) which was always a bitch to licence.  |  IP: Logged
