He seemed a nice enough guy but he gave off a very "slimy" vibe. Joe: Actually we trashed all eight of the mag prints (despite my strong objections) and ordered eight of the optical prints, loaded all eight on the Potts, then when we went to the ELF we loaded only 4, kept two in the booth, I got to keep one of the others (which a certain cinema company ran by a snake with the initials D.M. stole from me) and the last one was archived somewhere at Knott's. As far as I know, all the equipment was taken out of the Cloud Nine ballroom and stored. And yes, the move to the optical and Ultra*Stereo was an upgrade, as the "operators" who ran on my days off had managed to destroy most of the mag tracks, through various miscues.  |  IP: Logged Elise Brandt Expert Film Handler Posts: 160 From: Kuusankoski, FIN/ Kouvola, Finland Registered: Dec 2009 posted 12-31-2009 01:27 AM                     I do have to agree with Alex here, my patience is limitless but the umpteenth time during the same day (even the next person in the line to the theater??) when someone asks if they have to wear the 3D glasses and what will happen if they don't (entertaining urban legends going around, amazingly)... tend to get a little annoyed. There have been incidents where I had to pause to blink for a bit when they ask "but just one of my eyes works, do I still see it in 3D?" ...umm... no..?  |  IP: Logged Scott Norwood Film God Posts: 8146 From: Boston, MA. I hate it when people write checks, though. I don't understand why anyone writes checks any more. More things that drive me insane: -"Ergonomic" keyboards, especially the kind that are split down the middle and angled. Who thought of this shit? -Wrist pads on mouse pads. Those are so incredibly annoying! Why is my wrist on this lump? It is not helping me do anything, it is just pissing me off. -Mousepads in general. This isn't the 90's any more. Who the hell still uses mousepads? They do not increase accuracy or anything and you must worry about keeping the mouse within it confines. At many stores like WalMart, it is possible to scan your card while the cashier is ringing up your stuff. All the cashier needs to do is press the credit/debit button on the register after hitting the total button. In fact, you don't even have to tell them anymore. When you scan the card, it shows up on the cashier's display. She just hits the total button and it automatically goes through. Checks would be faster if they used MICR readers at the cash registers. They used to. I don't know why they quit doing it. All you had to do is hand the cashier a BLANK check. She would slide it through the MICR reader, the check would validate (using some version of "TeleCheck" service) then all she had to do was insert it into the printer on the register. The machine would print everything on the check, including the date. The cashier would hand the check back to you so you could read it and make sure it was right. You would then sign it and return it to the cashier. Sale complete. I don't know why they quit doing that. Optical mice often don't like faux wood grain desktops. Glass topped desks are often difficult for them to read as well. The best way to get a mouse to work under these difficult conditions is to use a mouse pad with a uniform pattern. My "MightyMouse" works best on a plain black cloth mouse pad. Mouse pads do help keep your mouse cleaner. If you are unlucky enough to still be using a mechanical mouse you will end up cleaning it a LOT less if you use a mouse pad. This is unlikely to change unless/until laser mice which shine two lasers on the surface below and read the interference pattern of the reflected beams become more popular. If/when they become popular, they are supposed to be able to track even on a clear glass table with nothing underneath. Haven't tried one yet. Last week at a bagel shop, a woman in line before me tried to charge $1.86, and it took three separate cards before she found one that would swipe. C'mon, cash isn't THAT dead.
