(AKA: Outing bad film handlers) Carl Martin Phenomenal Film Handler Posts: 1424 From: Oakland, CA, USA Registered: Feb 2002 posted 09-10-2005 01:45 AM                        to whoever last handled print 3079 of an unfinished life (the cans say hilltop 16 in richmond): you suck. all leaders flipped and taped on with masking or artist's tape, in some instances creasing the first or last frame. perfs "enhanced" in first and last frames of reels due to misaligned splicer. emulsion nicks in reel 1. about a dozen creases at the tail of reel 4, where the direction of the wind just completely reversed for a few inches at a time. i "uncreased" them but they show as opaque horizontal lines on screen. as well as the run-of-the-mill annoyances like unnecessary id frames, fingerprints, slight edge damage (didn't extend far enough in to be a problem). i commend you.  |  IP: Logged Scott Norwood Film God Posts: 8146 From: Boston, MA. Masking taped, flipped leaders led to edge damage for the last foot or so of R1. Also, they left two reference frames on each head and tail when plattering the print. Oh, and they used zebra tape as well and did so in such a way that the bar crosses the frameline and shows up on screen in scope. PERHAPS you're not the one to cut out the majority of fuggin' close-ups of James Bond in reel #3...and perhaps you were not the one to splice the remaining footage back together with single sided splices with the soundtrack on the wrong side...However, those splices looked pretty fresh to me... So even if you are not to blame for those atrocities, why the fuck did you send the print back like that? I mean, SOMEBODY must have noticed when it ran! So you get the major YOU SUCK award. Don't think the the nice folks at Sony didn't hear it from me either. Oh and to whoever last had print # 0001 from the Academy of From Russia With Love.. why do you suck so bad that you had to cut another frame from the heads and tails when the operator prior left single-sided splices for you to peel? And couldn't you at least replace the missing leaders of 1,5 and 4 with some scrap film? I hope ETS and the studio bills them for a new print and that fucktard gets fired. Last reel of film has sporatic green scratches in the middle. Other than this, a very nice presentation with even illumination and sharp borders. That guy deserves a raise, when the platter came unplugged the ads probably came back on the screen! But why haven't they upgraded to Digital Preshow yet?
