Yeppo! My wife wanted me to pick up a copy of "August Rush". It was $27.95 there last Saturday morning. They had 4 Blew Ray players on display there ranging from the Magnavox to the 489.00 Sony, No Play Stations at all... perhaps only in the Game Department... didn't go there.

Childish or not, no matter how much we all love Blew Ray Sony still sucks big time, right up there with Microsoft!

So if you dislike a company you stop being a professional when referring to them?

I don't like all the things that MS (and certainly Sony) does but that doesn't make me go into a mode where I try to crap on them.

Who the hell buys BD movies at retail? Only morons, that's who. You can get them for so much cheaper online. Word to your mother!

Your particular Wal-Mart sucks. Don't you have a Frys location out there or something? I remember you going on about them not too long ago. What are you doing slumming at Wal-Mart?

I guess you could say that Windows was taking a crap on its owners then, since that's where micros~1 comes from. I didn't make it up... Microsoft did. I just use that from time to time because I think it's funny, and usually only when I'm bringing up some other bone headed thing the company is engaging in.

I don't get the perpetual use of "blew-ray" though. I remember "HD-DUD" and "Half Dead-DVD" being thrown around too a while back, and I even took part in that because it was funny at the time. Sort of like "Shoulda Done Dolby Stereo" and all of the many other SDDS acronyms we had. They were funny (and still are funny) to talk about, but to use them perpetually in casual conversation about the format seems silly to me. But to each his own, I suppose.

And by the way, if anyone could explain to me what the hell "E-Bone" even means, I would greatly appreciate it. Obviously it's a reference to "E-Bay", but "E-BONE"? Does that mean you get a boner when you visit the site or something?

Actually I think ALL Wal-Mart's suck! The only thing I buy there once in a while are car care products... Wheel cleaner, wax, etc. No Fry's here. Closest one is Vegas and at Fry's you have to be careful... they have some very amazing deals there but ONLY the stuff that's on store special. They do have better regular pricing than most places though. The nice thing about Fry's is the sheer size of the stores. Take a Best Buy and go about 10 times bigger! I've been getting all my DVD's from Amazon for several years now and when they run specials I am probably get the best pricing around so I've stuck with them. Funny thing is that Blew Ray's locally are actually cheapest at Smith's Foods. Media Play and Virgin both pulled out and all thats left as far as those kinds of stores is FYE who's pricing is about the same as Wal-Mart's and which I don't much care for anyway.

I agree Wal-Mart sucks (and does so for a long list of reasons). My point is the one in your neighborhood is sucking even worse for charging higher prices than what other Wal-Mart locations are asking for Blu-ray related merchandise.

FYE charges quite a bit more for Blu-ray movies than Wal-Mart. FYE typically charges full MSRP for just about everything they sell. Music CDs for $18.99 and $19.99 and single disc Blu-ray movies for $34.99 and $39.99. FYE has the audacity to sell USED Blu-ray movies for as much or more than what other stores are asking for them brand new. As I've said previously, I'll go into a FYE store when I want a good laugh.

Locally, Sam's Club usually has the lowest prices on Blu-ray movies that they actually have in stock. Their selection is pretty thin. Usually I'll just order whatever Blu-ray discs I want from Amazon.

The Blu-ray rental situation could be better. Hastings has the best selection of BD movies to rent. But they charge $5.99, which is $1 more than what Hollywood Video and Blockbuster are charging. Hastings will give you a $2 credit if you bring back the movie within 24 hours. Hollywood Video is currently in bankruptcy so I can't really expect them to do any serious expansion of their Blu-ray section. I don't know what the deal is with Blockbuster's very limited selection of discs.

Wal-Mart may suck, but they were the only place in my area that carried Indiana Jones Pop-Tarts, so at least that's something.

Even though I realize it's cheaper to buy it online, my Tuesdays are not complete without a trip to Best Buy. To me, paying an extra couple bucks is worth it for the experience of the hunt. Also, I like being able to watch the new movies ASAP.

You also should've noticed that the post I made was directly after one of his. I didn't see the point of quoting a post directly above mine. [Smile]

And wal-marts definitely suck. Not only do they have problems with everything previously mentioned, but their workers are generally not "genius material." I looked for hole reinforcement stickers at one location only to find that the office supply area got moved to make room for Easter candies so when I asked for where the stuff got moved to the worker could only tell me that she had no idea and she had no clue what a hole reinforcement sticker was (even after I explained what they were). I also tend to dislike any place that sells a substance they call "fruit juice" that has a ton of corn syrup in it.

My using Blew Ray isn't insulting anyone directly here... just Sony. If you guys only knew just how bad they really are... and I'm not speaking in terms of the SDDS scam or the go no where 4K system....

Thats still too high unlike the weekend trip. I'll wait till it hits $19.95 or less. BTW: The Hummer got 19.2 mpg over the weekend on a trip to Pilot Peak... up one side and down the other, not too bad really. One of the few places on earth with a big enough open expanse where one can actually see the curvature in the earth!!
