Hello my name is Andrew Jefferson. I am the Assistant Cinema Technician for "A Large Cinema Chain" In the Newcastle Suburbs, New South Wales. I have been here for 1.5 years.
I am NOT here on behalf of my company, nor will I be talking about "company secrets" (Just in case any company execs are reading this). I am just here for my own personal enjoyment of the wonderful Film Medium.
My job is that of a standard Projectionist (Running shows, Making up features, Booth cleaning) but I also service the projectors and audio racks, and carry out general building maintenance.
Before my current job I worked at the “James Theatre” in Dungog, NSW for two years as head projectionist. It is a single screen, change-over, carbon arc house with 250 seats and DTS. The projectors there are Cummings & Wilson (C&W) Model: “EH Senior” (Which were built in 1929 and are still running today) sitting on top of an RCA sound head converted to Jaxlite. The perfect setup if you’re into Carbons and Change-overs, the audience gets the experience… without even knowing it! [ 08-12-2004, 05:09 PM: Message edited by: Andrew Jefferson ]

Howdy all, I'm Dan. I work at Dreamplex Cinemas in beautiful Calgary, Alberta, Canada. We're a move-over house playing prints after the big guys wreck them. I was hired as a projectionist when we opened last summer, and now somehow I'm in charge of staff schedules, showtimes, stock, maintenance, pretty much everything except marketing and booking. This makes it hard to give the booth my undivided attention, but this site had taught me a lot, and once I'm done browsing all 256 pages of the FT forums (I'm on page 30 now) I'm sure I'll have a million questions for you all.
And for the record, we're a 5-screen running all PRO-35s with Strong lamphouses and platters, and only Dolby-SR for sound, which still sounds pretty darn good.

Hey guys, I'm Brent Jones. I've been involved in a theatre in some way for at least ten years. I've cleaned, managed, operated, installed, maintained, and even stripped. I've always worked for independents and I've enjoyed every minute of it. I'm twenty-two years old, I love theatres and cars. I spend most of my time on both. I enjoy meeting people and listening to them. I'm a hawaiian-flowered freak that makes people laugh and I enjoy dry humor. This makes things all the more interesting in the concession stand. I don't consider myself the best, just trying to be better than the rest.
Anything I left out you can gather from my posts, great to know you guys!
That's all...
