Please Manny... I assume that you'd never heard of affirmative action or race quotas, huh? To say that a straight white male has not been discriminated against over the last many years is complete and pure BS. I don't argue the fact that the list you gave hasn't been the subject(s) of past discrimination, but to claim that white males (in particular) are not, nor have been discriminated against is a little 'blind sided', IMO.
And on the subject of Black History Month, Gay Pride Month, etc..

I have no real issue if someone is gay or not. That's their deal. I'm me.. and if you don't like it.. so fucking what..
I do, however, always get a real sense of hostility written into your posts in defense of the gay lifestyle, especially when someone mentions being straight. It's like the proverbial pot calling the kettle black...It's seemingly fine for you to spout off about the gay lifestyle yet when someone asserts any 'straight' comments, it opens pandoras box with you.
The fact remains, you are who you are, I am who I am and if anyone doesn't like it, they have the rest of their lives to get the fuck over it. The use of the word you above is not meant to infer Manny personally. I'm using the word as a generality.
I'll end by stating that I'm naive enough to have never even realized certain members (of this forum) sexual orientation, but ya know what? It doesn't change the fact that I get along with them just fine regardless of what type of lifestyle they, or I, lead.
You accept someone for WHO they are if you're genuine. End of story.

What exactly is that? That phrase has always cracked me up. Is that like when someone just *LOVES* only musical films and stage plays? Has a ton of "Showtune" CDs? Perhaps has every Barbra Streisand DVD?
To me, "Lifestyle" is not about the non-choice of being gay or straight. It means how I live as in my hobbies, my house, my cars/bike/SUV, area I live in, friends, work, what I like to collect and restore... like pinball machines, juke boxes, vacuum-tube audio and ham-radio stuff.
BTW: The ***ONLY*** musicals I like are "Rocky Horror Picture Show" and "Hedwig, and the Angry Inch". The rest suck! ![[beer]](graemlins/beer.gif)

I was afraid that someone would say this. I guess, perhaps, liefstyle is the wrong word for me to use in this situation. I find it odd to describe the homosexual/gay/whatever you choose to call it/ way of life. If you say it's behaviorial, someone counters. If you claim it to be learned, someone counters. If you say it's a lifestyle, which seems to be the term of choice right now, someone counters. No matter how you approach the subject, theme, style, situation, etc., there will always be those who choose to counter, which makes in even more difficult, at times to talk about.
Point-counterpoint-point-counterpoint...
Anyway, maybe I should have used teh term "persona'?

I am not gay, but as I found out today on my first day delivering flowers as a side job (still working at the movie theater, of course), I can easily be mistakened for it. I guess that's because the owners of the flower shop are a couple and their van has a rainbow-colored license plate holder with the plate reading "IM A TOP". I found out what that means later on. ![[sex]](graemlins/sex.gif)
I have no worries though. It doesn't really matter what people think of me, and truthfully, it's not the first time someone has thought that I was gay. Luckily I grew up in a fairly liberal family with a gay uncle, not to mention that the city I grew up in is very diverse; this had everything to do with me becoming who I am today, and I am quite proud of my lack of prejudices. After moving to a more rural area in junior high, I found some of the racial and sex-preference intolerance to be quite sickening. I guess as long as older generations pass on these faulted prejudices to their children, the problem will still exist.
