Who is Scott? I don't pay attention to that person, if he really exists.

Evans-- I wouldn't worry about NOT being "out" to your parents.
They probably "know" anyway.

Very true, Floyd. My parents knew ever since I was a teen. My dad didn't mind, except for the fact I wouldn't talk to him about it, which really hurt his feelings. It was after he died I found out how much he knew by talking to my mom. My mom was always the one with a problem, until after Dad was gone, then she woke up and realized that there were more important things to get worked up about.

Life's too short to get hung up over one's dating and mating preferences. Talk to your parents before it's too late. They probably understand a lot more than you suspect.

Cheers all.... [beer] now I need one..

Well, I'm bisexual. I tell people if they ask, but only if I don't suspect that I'll have to suffer homophobic shockwaves from people. Everyone I've told is perfectly fine with it, and I agree with the self comfort idea.

Most of Canada now recognizes same-sex marriage, including Manitoba (which was 4th to change the wording of it's law).

Winnipeg also had a gay mayor for about 8 or 9 years, and he apparently was the first openly gay elected mayor in Canada.

Here in Arizona the mayor of Tempe (where ASU is located) is openly gay and has been the mayor for a while I think.

Yeah, I don't see how my parents could not know. I'm 36 years old and have never had a girlfriend. My mother knows how I am, but I don't talk to my father about it. He's always extremely negative anytime any issue of homosexuality comes up. I can't change the way I am for him, and don't want him to cut me out of his life, so I just keep going the way I've been going, not mentioning it.

In the past year, I've found a very accepting group of friends through LiveJournal here in town, and that's made the quality of my life much better. Most people know me as "Chris" now instead of "Evans". On LiveJournal, AOL IM, and Yahoo IM, I'm "chris" concatenated with "21718". (I didn't put the whole thing in one piece since I'm careful about never letting that ID appear on anything on the WWW with my real name in case Google grabs it).

There are two film-techers on my LJ friend list. If anyone else here is on LiveJournal, add me if you want and I'll add you back.

As before, nearly all of my friends are heterosexual guys with a few females. The quality of my life is better because I have more people to be in touch with and hang out with, and that really has made me happier during the past 10 months.

I've got LJ... I rarely post to it, but I comment in other's journals.

Maybe I'll add some film-techers...
