I have an aquaintance whose collection was confiscated by the FBI..... What it boils down to is that once the film is placed in the dumpster it then technnically belongs to the refuse company. Then the refuse company can do what they want with the film in it's dumpster. In the end my aquaintance got his entire collection back since the FBI couldn't proove he did anyting wrong. But it took him a long time. The fellow who trained me for booth ALL THOSE YEARS AGO (27) had a few features in 16mm. They were sold at a flea market for 1.50 a reel. They originally belonged to the local NBC affiliate. The distributor apparently didn't want them back, though a lot of TV stations still had their film chains and were running 16mm at the time. (He got miffed a bit when the guy he brought to the flea market got a feature that was in color. About 30 years ago, KSEL AM (950 khz) in Lubbock ran 2 of these in their main control booth. They had a monstrous tone arm and the 45s they used to play looked tiny on the turntables. I suspect the vintage of this particular turntable is newer than the 40's.
