I concur with Lyle. Though I can't say I am totally immune to marketing (including an excellent impromptu high school speach made by one of my classmates in a creative writing class in favor of Coke), I can definitely tell a difference between Coca- and Pepsi-Cola, whereas I cannot tell the difference as well between Dr. Pepper and Mr. Pibb, Sprite and Sierra Mist.
It is no secret that Pepsi was actually studying the amount of cinnamon the Coca Cola Company bought between their original formula and switching to the disasterous "New Coke."
Rumor has it that Pepsi modified their formula, based on the cinnamon discrepancies, between new and old Coke formulae, after "New Coke" tanked.
So I would say Coke clearly has something different and original, something that Pepsi Cola has desperately tried to copy.
Now, I am not knocking Pepsi. They have Mountain Dew, which is also something original and different, but there is definitely somethign about Coke that Pepsi and generic colas can't match.
