If you had a print issue the studio and Deluxe or Technicolor was local to handle print problems. An 1100 seat gem of a place with curtains all around. Chief operator there was John Harvey, so this was "film done right". On the Columbus sites, note that CINEMA EAST says it is "6 track stereophonic". They did not have a 70mm Dolby unit...just a CP-50 they put in for STAR WARS. The CONTINENT was legendary in these parts for always getting the top films and always getting them so dirty in the first few weeks that they were almost unwatchable. The CONTINENT was one of those Mid-States houses with projectors in the lobby. The 70mm platter was wide open for the world to see, pulling in dust and dirt from the opening doors and attracting cigarette smoke, which was permitted in lobbies at that time. The New York Times, November 7, 1985 And here's a close-up view of the theater listings. This would appear to be a rare case of a 70mm print being booked in a suburban NYC area theater rather than in a Manhattan venue. In addition, note the 4-track mag presentation. There's some historical noteworthiness here as this may have been the final release in 4-track mag. It's certainly the most-recent one of which I'm aware. (Village Westwood, first Saturday's late show).  |  IP: Logged Frank Angel Film God Posts: 5305 From: Brooklyn NY USA Registered: Dec 1999 posted 05-06-2011 11:58 PM                        Around this time, Samuel Goldwyn had been releasing "4Trk Mag" prints that were bastardized -- really only three tracks (LCR, sans Surround) on standard sprocket stock rather than Fox Sprockets. They did this for OKLAHOMA and SOUTH PACIFIC that I know of because I ran them. I am wondering if they might have done the same thing with the 35mm prints of BRING ON THE NIGHT AS WELL, although overtly claiming "4Trk Magnetic Stereo Presenation" and then only playing three track prints would be a pretty outrageous breach of Truth in Advertising. When we ran the above mentioned musicals, we got around that by advertising "MultiTrack Magnetic Stereo."  |  IP: Logged
