I saw BRAINSTORM at the National on Saturday, October 1 at the 8pm perfpormance. While the theatre was full by showtime, it hadn't sold out a couple of hours early, a sign the film was probably not going to be a giant hit (that was Westwood back then). I also saw AMADEUS on it's first Saturday matinee performance at the UA Coronet in Westwood in 70mm. I recall that the 70mm notation (not noted in this particluar ad) got dropped sometime during the run. If I displayed the entire Mann directory ad (which has about thirty theaters listed) I think the text will be too small to read. (Yes, that's Star Trek V advertised in 70mm at the Village. Ghostbusters II, in 35mm, is advertised on the Chinese's other two screens.) How 'bout an ad for a classic '60s flick instead... It can only be better. A closer look at the one theater showing it in 70MM. For those wondering, this is the place originally known as the UA Cinema 150. It was split and became the UA Cinema I and II.
