Richard Hamilton Phenomenal Film Handler Posts: 1341 From: Evansville, Indiana Registered: Jan 2000 posted 11-23-2011 10:12 AM                     I've owned a couple dozen high end cars and this was probably my favorite. I ended up getting rid of it because it guzzled gas faster than I could guzzle a beer. 5.7 liter V8 moving around 50 tons of steel made for a comfy ride. When I ran out of gas, I could hop in the back seat and slide down the t.v. screen and watch local shows or a movie. Lots of leather and wood trim. I think they made the Corvette seats extra soft because anytime you ran over a pebble it felt like you hit a pothole. I believe the only '83 Vette is the one at the Corvette museum in Bowling Green a prototype for the 1984 model. My last Vette, 82, best body style in my opinion. Thus, the could get that mileage rating. 68's prob had the 427-L88 motor under the hood w/4spd as an option. Running 11:1 compression using 93 premimum .. were good to get 12mpg on a slow day. Lost a bet in riding one of these beasts: driver place a hundred dollar bill on the dash in front of me and told me I can have that hundred if I can grab it as soon as he dumped the clutch. He dumped that clutch and I couldn't even raise my arm. Same effect, 0-60 easily in first in about 5 seconds. When those second two barrels opened up, it was insane power. My 80 and 82 were just so so, wouldn't race them against anything, but they had the looks. Plus they were automatics.  |  IP: Logged
