Currently a 2008 Ford Focus 1.6l TDCi Zetec. We lease them, on a deal that includes road tax, maintenance etc. Makes business sense as you know what your vehicle cost will be every month. Apart from fuel. Off the clock, what is on paper, a 1990 Range Rover 3.9l Vogue SE. There's not very much left that is genuinely 1990 vintage though. The wife is in the process of looking for a decent mini, not one of those BMW abortions, a real mini, like in 'The Italian Job'. Currently she has a Toyota Corolla, previous to that a Toyota Carina. That car was nearly 25 years old when it went to be recycled, it was only the offer we got on the newer Corolla that sealed the Carina's fate. Tom, my mum drives a Land Cruiser Colorada, I belive you might know it as a Prado. It was my late Fathers car, and has been very good to both of them. She's planning to replace it with a RAV4, at which point I'll take the LC off her hands. It's always handy to have at least one 4x4 for the Scottish winter. It's about 10 years old. Has the common rail injection turbo diesel engine. Only problems have been drivers seat squab collapses every 40,000 or so miles, alloy wheels corroding and not sealing on the tyres well (had them blasted and powder coated, sorted) and silly niggles caused by main dealership not servicing it properly. Replaced a stop lamp, didn't put the seal back on properly, light unit filled with water & corroded. Latest one was failing to renew fuel filters which caused all manner of starting & running problems. The vehicle still looked new like if he drove it off the showroom floor. Definitely was a road vehicle to look that good. He definitely did a lot of travelling. Thus, I wonder how many valve seal jobs he's done, if the motor has been replaced,even numerous times, tranny work (if it's an automatic-manuals can last forever if one does the "oil change" since manual trannies for Hondas STILL use 5w/30 motor oil), et.al. But the other guy on the road that think's he owns the road has different ideas that his gas guzzling SUV is indestructable and invincible.
